Jubilee Year 2025

Pilgrims of Hope | December 24, 2024 - January 6, 2026

“Let us get up, therefore, and set out as pilgrims of hope, because, just as Mary did with Saint Elizabeth, we too can bring news of joy, generate new life and be artisans of brotherhood and peace.” (Pope Francis)

The Catholic Church worldwide is celebrating the Jubilee Year 2025 from December 24, 2024, to January 6, 2026. The theme is "Pilgrims of Hope." Pope Francis begins the Jubilee with a special rite to open the Holy Door of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. More than 35 million pilgrims are expected to visit the holy sites during the holy year.

In celebration of the Jubilee Year, Bishop Anthony B. Taylor has designated the Cathedral of Saint Andrew as one of the official Jubilee Churches in the Diocese of Little Rock. This would allow those unable to travel to Rome to make pilgrimages to any one of these churches to obtain the Jubilee indulgence.

Below, you will find a list of various initiatives from the Cathedral of Saint Andrew throughout the year to celebrate this joyous occasion. For more information on the Jubilee Year, prayers and devotions, visit https://iubilaeum2025.va/en.html or usccb.org and search "2025 Jubilee Year Resources."

Jubilee Cross

The beautiful Jubilee Cross to the left of the Cathedral's altar was hand-crafted by Dc. Mark Verkamp of Sacred Heart Church in Charleston, AR. The relic in the center, from our Diocesan archives, is from the True Cross of Jesus Christ. The Jubilee Cross will travel to different parishes throughout the Diocese during this Jubilee Year.

Historical Tours of the Cathedral

The Cathedral of Saint Andrew, established in 1845, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Throughout the Jubilee Year, the Cathedral will provide docent-led tours for those who are interested in learning more about its history, art, architecture, and more!
