The Cathedral Our House Team prepares and serves dinner to the residents of the Our House Shelter, a local homeless shelter.
Our team serves the 1st Wednesday of each month. We have 14 full-time members who work together to coordinate the meal. We also have members who serve as substitutes and help out when needed. Each member is responsible for buying and preparing their 'menu' item. Our menu consists of a main dish, 2 vegetables, bread, salad, dessert, and drink.
Our members are grouped in pairs and each pair brings one of the menu items. We rotate what each group brings monthly so that everyone will have a turn bringing each of the menu items. We provide enough food to serve between 80 - 100 residents. We serve dinner at 6 p.m. We do not stay and clean up; that is the responsibility of the residents. It takes approximately 30 - 45 minutes to serve the meal and prepare late trays for those residents working.
